First Responders    Due to the size of our county we utilize First Responders in the outlying areas. We have 13 Volunteer Fire Departments that provide fire suppression, first aid and extrication for the county. Each department has an average of 15 members, all of which are not certified first responders. They aid EMS by being able to arrive on the scene first and start helping treat patients before the ambulance arrives, they also help us determine the severity of the injuries and the need for additional units. The Dublin Fire Depratment provides extrication for the city of Dublin, East Dublin Fire Department provides extrication for East Dublin and Zone 2, Dexter, Dudley, Rentz, Lowery, Minter, and Popular Springs provide extrication for their respective areas of the county. The Laurens County Fire Department now has a new Rescue truck to respond to auto accidents, and for Regional response for Haz-mat incidents.
